Deputy Country Director, UNDP, Vietnam
Akiko Fujii is Deputy Country Director of UNDP Vietnam since September 2016.
Prior to this assignment, she served as Deputy Resident Representative in Fiji (2012-2016) where she was in charge of Programme and Operations for Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
Previously, she has served UNDP as Deputy Resident Representative in Jamaica (2008-2012), Head of Management Support Unit in Sudan (2006-2008), Programme Manager and Public Affairs and Civil Society Liaison Officer in Japan (2001-2006), and Programme Officer in Pakistan (1998-2001). Prior to that, she has served in the areas of community development and gender and development in an NGO, Kyoto, Japan.
Akiko has MA in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex University (UK), and MA in Human and Environmental Studies from Kyoto University (Japan).
Akiko will present the UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights at Vietnam Internet Forum 2017.
