Kai-Alexander Kaiser

Senior Economist at the World Bank, Vietnam

Kai-Alexander Kaiser is a Senior Economist at the World Bank, he has been based in Hanoi since July 2016. Previously he worked at the World Bank in Manila, where his engagement has focused primarily on issues of public finance and public sector governance reform, including open government. Prior to moving to the Philippines, he was Senior Economist at the (global) Public Sector and Governance Group, in Washington, DC, with focus on issues of public finance, inter-governmental relations, natural resource led development, and applied political economy/institutional reform issues.

In the early 2000s, Kai-Alexander was also based in Jakarta, Indonesia with the World Bank, working mainly on the government’s fiscal decentralization and service delivery reforms. He takes a keen interest in how digital technologies, including “big data”, can improve public sector decision making, transparency, and responsiveness.

Kai-Alexander is one of the panellists in the second main session on E-governance for Accessibility and Transparency at Vietnam Internet Forum 2017.
